Additional Exploratory Information Lends Great Potential to Company's Commitment with Democratic Republic of Sao Tome & Principe

LAFAYETTE, La., Feb. 18, 1999 - Environmental Remediation Holding Corp. (OTC BB:ERHC) today announced that the Company has reached an agreement for the acquisition of $2 million of seismic and geological data through Mr. Chris Hellinger, a principal of Island Exploration and Roan Trust. Mr. Hellinger is additionally owner and President of Sao Tome-based Solar Construction.

This strategic acquisition provides ERHC with vital exploratory information concerning the oil and gas potential of its concession with the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe (DRSTP). The newly acquired data consists of: 782km of 2-D seismic data in and around the islands of Sao Tome and Principe; a comprehensive petroleum exploration evaluation report conducted and formulated by the Imperial College of London; and, detailed well histories of two wells drilled by Island Exploration on the Island of Sao Tome consisting of electrical well evaluation logs, full hole continuous cores and detailed well drilling information.

Oil samples collected and analyzed during 1998 from active seeps on Sao Tome indicate that there is a high probability that the source constitutes a light crude that has matured in place. The oil sample analyses are consistent with oil samples included in the Imperial College study, lending further credence to the findings.

James R. Callender, President and CEO of ERHC, stated, "In light of the new data acquisition, we are more encouraged than ever with the results that have been compiled regarding the petroleum exploration potential both on-shore and in the off-shore areas around DRSTP. The Company has initiated discussions with major Exploration and Production companies for these potentially oil rich areas, and expects to enter negotiations for exploration contracts in the immediate future."

"Additionally, ERHC is in final negotiations with Schlumberger Geco Prakla to license the marketing rights, potentially generating significant revenues for the Company, of the acquired seismic (Roan Lines) and other geological data to Exploration and Production companies operating in the Gulf of Guinea area," Callender concluded.
