In early 2008 and 2009, Addax Petroleum, operator of JDZ Block 4, publicly disclosed seismic images and maps showcasing the prospectivity of its JDZ interests. Addax has authorized ERHC Energy to feature some of the JDZ-related images to better inform the investor community. The Addax Petroleum Capital Markets Day presentations were made public on January 29, 2008 and March 23, 2009.

The image below is a 3D view of the structural elements in JDZ Blocks 1, 2, 3 and 4. From left to right, the arrows point to the following:
  • The Lemba Prospect, which the Joint Development Authority (JDA) has approved as the first drilling location in JDZ Block 3 in which Anadarko is the operator;
  • The Kina Prospect, which the JDA has approved as the first drilling location in JDZ Block 4;
  • The Obo Discovery and Kainji Prospect in JDZ Block 1 (ERHC does not have interests in JDZ Block 1);
  • The Principe Prospect in JDZ Block 2 in which Sinopec is the operator. This prospect is still under consideration. Click on image for high resolution version.

The following image is a view from the side of the different layers of sediment and rock beneath the Gulf of Guinea at the Kina Prospect, which the JDA has approved as the first drilling location in JDZ Block 4 (operated by Addax). Current plans call for the Kina Prospect to be the first of ERHC's interests in the Gulf of Guinea to be explored, with drilling expected as early as the fourth quarter of 2009. A hump-like formation is generally recognized as a sign of oil and gas prospectivity. As indicated by the arrows, the Kina prospect has numerous target horizons. The following image is a view from the side of the different layers of sediment and rock beneath the Gulf of Guinea at the Bomu Prospect, which the JDA has approved as the first drilling location in JDZ Block 2 (operated by Sinopec). Current plans call for the Bomu Prospect to be the second of ERHC's interests in the Gulf of Guinea to be explored, with drilling expected as early as the fourth quarter of 2009.

As shown here, the Bomu Prospect in JDZ Block 2 stretches over a fairly large geographic are.

following 3D image shows the other prospect under consideration in JDZ Block 2 -- the Tome Prospect. Sinopec is the operator of JDZ Block 2. To date, neither the Principe Prospect nor the Tome Prospect has been approved by the JDA. Click on image for high resolution version.

The image below offers added analysis -- a seismic amplitude extraction -- of what exists below 5,000 to 6,000 feet of water on the floor of the Gulf of Guinea. It shows what has been interpreted as a major depositional feature  -- a channel system -- that appears to run through JDZ Blocks 1, 2, 3 and 4. Click on image for high resolution version.
